WHAT WE NEED YOUR HELP WITH

Advise on a practical, capacity-aware communications strategy that aligns to our mission, clarifies audiences and goals, and sets channel-specific plays staff can follow. Provide lightweight guidelines to ensure consistency.

OUR SPECIFIC QUESTIONS

• Best Practices: What are best practices for communications and branding for nonprofits?
• Strategy Design: How do we create a coherent strategy that covers visibility, advocacy and fundraising with limited capacity?
• Audience Prioritisation: How should we identify and prioritise our target audiences across channels?
Measurement: How can we measure effectiveness and learn what works?
Tools & Templates: Which practical tools or templates can staff use to implement consistently?

WHERE WE ARE TODAY

The CECD is focused on equipping and empowering families and communities in vulnerable areas to better care for and educate their young children.

We are well recognised within the Early Childhood Development (ECD) sector, but our visibility beyond these networks is limited. While we have achieved success through radio, TV, and newspaper coverage, we now need a coordinated communications approach that consistently engages all of our audiences.
Each year we develop a communications plan, focusing mainly on Facebook and Instagram, with less emphasis on LinkedIn, X, and YouTube. We also produce a monthly newsletter, annual reports, donor decks, and a donor dialogue newsletter three times a year. These efforts have given us a solid foundation, but they are not part of an integrated, long-term strategy.

What we need is an overarching plan that ensures consistency across platforms and provides a clear way to reach stakeholders beyond ECD networks and more effectively promote our work.

We have formalised a sub team to work on comms and they’re doing a good job considering they have other organisational roles that they still fulfil. Effectively they do comms when they can and are trained in other functions so are leveraging their skills to figure it out on the fly.

Audiences that we are targeting include:
  • General public for societal awareness
  • Then funders/potential funders
  • People in the education space
  • Beneficiaries and
  • Government

We need help in thinking through how to go about creating a practical plan for us to follow - what are we trying to achieve and what tactics will we do when.

Current examples of our comms are attached below.

We would like support in developing a comprehensive communications, visibility, and branding strategy that:
  • Aligns with our vision, mission and organisational culture.
  • Strengthens our presence across different communication channels.
  • Provides clear guidelines for staff to follow to ensure consistency.
  • Helps us communicate our impact more effectively.

HOW YOUR HELP WILL IMPACT US

A clear comms strategy will strengthen our identity and recognition, help us build relationships with funders, partners and communities, and give staff confidence in representing the organisation. Consistent, audience-led messaging will amplify our impact stories and position us as professional and trustworthy.
